Darrell Bradford (the co-creator of WWII The Complete Game) has the Coastal Gun. Problem is I have not seen Darrell since he married and relocated up north. How kan you make a mold of a soldier unit i.e.. How do you make your own models, out of plaster perhaps?? Hope someone can tell me about it, cause I want to try to design units for Frontline Europe. I have yet to cast any pieces myself, but will be very soon. it's seems to be very simplistic, no nuclear physics degree needed! Aaron has cast a few pieces I believe and he makes it sound easy and will be showing me how in June. we have a mutual friend who has cast hundreds. I think the best original piece to make your mold from should be some sort of die-cast miniature or at least hard dense plastic. Alumilite is an off the shelve produce that is sold in many different ways. For the beginner, I would recommend you buy Alumilite Super Casting Kit, (which retails for about $70.00 US) and is commonly found in a US national hobby store by the name of "Hobby Town USA". Plano Texas is where I buy my supply. To answer your questions in order: How easy is it to make models with alumite?? VERY! How can you make a mold of a soldier unit i.e.. ?? Without a Alumilites Dow Corning HSII or III, a vacuum chamber to de-air the Dow Corning when you mix it, and pressure pot to push the Alumilite into the mold so that the detail on a small infantry figure comes out.. almost impossible. (est. cost is $1,000.00 to acquire all of the aforementioned materials.) How do you make your own models, out of plaster perhaps?? I recommend you buys a product called Sculpey from Alumilite. One can sculpt anything with this clay like material. Then you bake it in the oven until its hard as rock. Then you reproduce it with Alumilite. AxisNDallas

If you try to work with figures made of softer flexible plastic, don't expect very good results. Your glue won't work, your paint won't stick, and ultimately it will be a very unsatisfying experience. Trim off all the flash. Plastic figures are generally cast on spines just like model kit parts, often with many more connecting points than most lead figures have. Hunt them down and neutralize them. If you plan on using acrylics, you'll need to prepare your figures with spray primer. I prefer a flat white primer. I wanted to start off by stating that the creators of WaW-CA is the first major release by a small mom & pop company in over 5 years that offers a nice selection of plastic mold injection game pieces. 2. In spit of the fact that all of the units are 2/3 to 1/2 the original size of A&A standard units, in my overall all opinion, the quality and selection of pieces are well worth purchasing this game. The game offers 4 colors: a. Light sky blue for the Allies. b. Brown for the Russians c. Ghost Grey for the East Germans and d. Dark Blue for the West Germans. The unit selection: 1. Infantry a. Approx. 2/3rds the size of the standard A&A infantry unit. b. Overall quality/design is on par with Milton Bradleys detail. c. An excellent unit that can be used as a partisan or sub-standard Russian infantry for those who play home made games. 2. Armor a. Approx. 1/2 the size of the standard A&A armor unit. which I refer to as a tankette. B. Overall . the quality/design of this unit is slightly less than what Milton Bradley offers. c. An excellent unit that can be used as a light armor unit for those who play home made games. 3. Anti-Aircraft gun. a. Approx. the size of a standard A&A gun. b. The quality/design and detail of this unit is exceptional. Unit is modeled off a German 88. c. An excellent unit that can be used as a true Anti aircraft or Anti Tank gun for those who play home made games. 4. Bomber a. Approx. 1/3rd the size of a standard A&A bomber. b. Quality/design of unit on par with Milton Bradleys bombers, Unit is modeled off a German bomber. c. An excellent unit that can be used as a transport plane, or medium bomber for those who play home made games. 5. Battleship a. Approx. 2/3rds the size of a standard A&A battleship. b. The quality/design and detail of this unit is exceptional. c. An excellent unit that can be used as the perfect Cruiser for those who play home made games. 6. Destoyer a. Approx. 1/2 the size of a Avalon Hill Destoyer. b. The quality/design and detail of this unit is exceptional. c. An excellent unit that can be used as the perfect escort destoyer or frigate for those who play home made games. 7. Submarine a. Approx. the size of a standard A&A sub. b. Quality/design is below average compared to Milton Bradleys subs, but features a hull that appears to be half submerged. c. A unit that can be used as a short range or midget submarine for those who play home made games. 8. Transports a. Approx. 1/3rd the size of a standard A&A transport. b. Quality/design is poor compared to Milton Bradley, featuring a small cargo area and low silhouette in the water c. Unit can be used as a Higgins beach amphibious assault craft for those who play home made games. I hope hear from others who have purchased this game to let me know what they think of the game units.
